Oakland: A tragic incident unfolded in East Oakland when a 15-year-old shot and killed a father who was trying to protect his son’s scooter. This happened right after Christmas, and the police arrested the teen on Monday.

The heartbreaking story comes from a GoFundMe set up by the victim’s son, Dylan, who’s just 14. He described how three teens stole his scooter on December 26. When his dad, Ponciano “Chano” Tule Bernal, confronted them, one of the teens pulled a gun and shot him. Dylan shared how he watched his dad fall, and it’s just gut-wrenching.

Now, the police have confirmed they’ve arrested a suspect, who is also just 15 years old. The Oakland Police Department announced the arrest and said charges have been filed against him for murder and robbery related to the scooter theft.

Even though he’s a minor, he could still face a significant sentence, possibly up to ten years. Unfortunately, the other two suspects are still out there.

If anyone has information, they’re encouraged to reach out to the Oakland Police Department. They’re looking for any videos or photos that might help with the investigation. It’s a tough situation for the family, and the community is rallying around them.
