Denver braces for a freezing weekend with subzero temperatures and snow expected

Light snow has already started in the northern mountains, and it’s expected to move into Denver and the Eastern Plains by Friday. This is just the beginning of a chilly weekend ahead.
An arctic airmass is rolling in, bringing bitterly cold air starting Saturday and sticking around until Monday night. Most of northern and central Colorado will be feeling the freeze, with temps dropping below zero.
In metro Denver, overnight lows could hit between minus 15 and minus 20. And with the windchill, it might feel like a bone-chilling 30 degrees below zero.
Sunday is shaping up to be the coldest day, with highs only reaching about 6 degrees and dropping below minus 10 overnight into Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
If you’re south of Denver, like in Parker or Castle Rock, expect lows around minus 15. Light snow will keep falling in the Denver area through Sunday, but it’s still unclear how much we’ll actually get.
Northern Colorado, especially around Kremmling and Waldon, will see the coldest temps, dipping to around minus 15 and 17 over the weekend.
But don’t worry, things will start warming up again by Tuesday, with highs in the low 30s. Stay warm out there!
