Residents in LA are taking security into their own hands amid ongoing wildfires

In places like Altadena and Pacific Palisades, homeowners are on high alert. With looters taking advantage of the chaos, they feel the need to take matters into their own hands.
One resident, Ross Gerber, has been particularly vocal about his frustrations with local law enforcement. He’s been patrolling with a firearm, saying he has no patience for the LAPD’s restrictions.
Gerber and his family evacuated but are still actively checking on their property. He’s even organized a water truck to be on standby in case of new fires.
Another resident, Aaron Lubeley, lost his home but is staying in the area to help others. He’s been keeping watch and providing supplies to neighbors who stayed behind.
Despite the dangers, Lubeley refuses to leave, even as his wife urges him to come home. He’s committed to protecting his community, saying he couldn’t enjoy life knowing his neighbors might be in trouble.
Authorities are trying to keep residents safe from hazardous conditions, but many just want to see what’s left of their homes. Sheriff Robert Luna acknowledged the emotional toll this situation is taking on everyone involved.
