A Boston nonprofit is offering emergency grants to families in California impacted by wildfires and breast cancer.

Los Angeles: A Boston nonprofit is stepping up to help families hit hard by the wildfires. Runway For Recovery is also focusing on those affected by breast cancer, especially those who lost a parent to it.
They’ve launched an emergency grant program to get money to families in need quickly. Founder Olivia Boger mentioned that they’ve been helping families in Southern California for about three years now.
“Living with metastatic breast cancer is tough, and the wildfires just add to that stress,” Boger said. They’re working to get grants out in just a few hours to help families cope.
The grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, which can cover essentials like groceries or even diapers for families with young kids. It’s all about making life a bit easier during these tough times.
Boger noted that the impact of the fires will linger for years, and they want to be there for families as they navigate this crisis.
For those in New England, New York, and New Jersey, the next round of grants will open on March 1st. Over the past 18 years, Runway For Recovery has provided various support services and hosted fashion shows to raise funds.
Despite the wildfires, they’re still planning a runway show in Southern California on January 25th at Balboa Bay Resort. Plus, there’s an event in Boston called Rally for Runway on February 2nd at Barry’s Boston Back Bay.
