New York: So, guess what? Carrie Underwood is set to perform “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s inauguration next week. She’ll be joined by country singer Lee Greenwood and opera singer Christopher Macchio.

Underwood, who became famous on “American Idol,” will sing just before Trump takes the oath of office at the U.S. Capitol on January 20. The inauguration festivities kick off this weekend with a fireworks show at Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Virginia, plus a rally in D.C. and a visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

This inauguration is shaping up to be quite different from the last one. Trump didn’t attend Biden’s swearing-in ceremony after losing the 2020 election. The planning committee has laid out a four-day schedule leading up to the big day, which Biden will also attend.

On Saturday, Trump will host a reception and fireworks at his golf club, followed by a dinner for Cabinet members. Sunday includes a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington and a “MAGA Victory” rally in downtown Washington.

Inauguration Day will feature tea at the White House, the swearing-in ceremony, a congressional luncheon, a parade, and several balls. Melania Trump will join the tea with the Bidens this time, unlike last time.

On Tuesday, Trump’s first full day as president will start with a National Prayer Service. Greenwood will perform as Trump walks out to take the oath, and Macchio will sing the National Anthem at the end of the program.

Macchio has performed at various Trump events, including the Republican National Convention and rallies. Trump’s first inauguration in 2017 had performances from the Rockettes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, among others.
