Miami: So, a constitutional lawyer just took a swing at Special Counsel Jack Smith’s report about Trump. She said it’s basically a partisan hit job. The report claims Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election, but she thinks it’s just a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo.

Smith’s report came out early Tuesday, saying they had enough evidence to convict Trump for election interference. But, since Trump won the 2024 election, they couldn’t take it to trial. Katie Cherkasky, the lawyer, called the whole thing “a prosecution on paper.”

She pointed out that it’s like a prosecutor’s dream—no rebuttal, no cross-examination, and no need to prove anything. The report was sent to Congress after a last-minute attempt by Trump’s lawyers to block it failed.

Cherkasky mentioned that most of the info in the report was already out there. She argued that the American people voted for Trump knowing all the claims against him, so this feels like just another partisan attack dressed up in legal terms.

She even said it was a shame the report was released at all, claiming it only serves to undermine trust in the justice system. Trump didn’t hold back either, calling Smith “deranged” and a “lamebrain” on his Truth Social platform, insisting that the voters have made their choice clear.
