Middlebury: A man got himself into hot water over the weekend. Gerard Carbonaro, 61, was arrested for allegedly lying to state police about a road rage incident on I-84 last year.

He claimed another driver pointed a gun at him, but things didn’t quite add up. The incident happened on March 7, 2024, when police were called to a commuter lot after Carbonaro reported the alleged gun threat.

According to his story, he was driving in the left lane when a Chevy Silverado cut him off. He said the driver then made a rude gesture and later pulled up next to him, pointing a handgun.

But when police investigated, they found the Silverado driver had a different tale. He admitted to making a gesture but denied having any weapons. Plus, he had a dash cam that showed the whole thing, and it backed up his version of events.

Now, Carbonaro is facing charges like reckless driving and making false statements. He’s out on a $10,000 bond and is set to appear in court on January 21. What a wild ride!
