Dallas has broadened its smoking laws to include vaping, enhancing public health protections.

Dallas: The city is making some big changes to its smoking laws. They’ve decided to include vaping in their definition of smoking. This means vaping is now banned in all the same places where smoking is already prohibited.
Dr. Philip Huang, who heads the Dallas County Health and Human Services, is really happy about this move. He believes it’s a great step towards a healthier community. The new rules are aimed at protecting everyone’s health, making sure that all residents can enjoy cleaner air.
On December 11, 2024, the Dallas City Council officially approved this change. Now, not only traditional smoking but also vaping and even plant products like marijuana fall under this new definition.
So, smoking is not allowed in any indoor spaces, within 15 feet of entrances, or in parks. The city is also updating its “No Smoking” signs to reflect this new rule about electronic devices.
There’s a grace period of one year for businesses to comply, so the full enforcement of this ordinance will kick in on December 11, 2025. It’s a significant shift for Dallas, aiming to create a healthier environment for everyone.
