New York: Delta Air Lines is really stepping up its game with some cool new tech in aerospace. Their CEO, Ed Bastian, recently shared some exciting plans about air taxis. He mentioned that we might see them flying around in just a couple of years. How cool is that?

At the recent CES 2025 event, Delta celebrated its 100th anniversary and laid out its vision for the future. They’re looking to use artificial intelligence and team up with tech and ride-share companies to make this happen.

Bastian talked about a partnership with Joby Aviation, which is working on electric vertical take-off aircraft. He’s pretty optimistic about this, saying that Joby has already gone through a lot of the necessary certification processes with the FAA.

The FAA is on board too, recognizing the need to tackle ground congestion. Joby is currently in a multi-year testing program to get their air taxi certified for commercial use.

Bastian explained how these air taxis could really change the game for getting to the airport. For example, if you live in Westchester County, you could take a Joby to JFK in just 15 minutes instead of spending two hours stuck in traffic.

He wrapped up by saying this whole project is about providing real value to travelers. Sounds like a game-changer, right?
