Denver: Metro Denver is gearing up for a serious cold snap this weekend. The city is opening shelters to provide warmth for those who need it.

City officials are urging anyone without shelter to come inside. They emphasize that cold weather can be dangerous, especially for those without a roof over their heads.

If you’re looking for a warm place, there are several options available. Four overflow cold weather shelters are set up across Denver, staying open until at least Tuesday morning.

You can find shelter at the Stone Creek location, which used to be a Best Western, and other spots on West 7th Avenue and South Zuni Street.

There are also regular access points for those in need. The Denver Rescue Mission, Samaritan House, Urban Peak, and The Salvation Army all have designated hours and services.

Volunteers of America is stepping up too, extending hours and providing meals at their Sinton Sanctuary and Mission Community Center.

In Aurora, shelters open when temperatures drop to 20 degrees or when there’s significant precipitation. The Aurora Day Resource Center and Comitis Crisis Center are ready to help.

Englewood has its own shelters that activate under similar conditions. They have two overnight shelters and day warming spots available when it gets really cold.

Stay warm and safe out there! This story is still developing, so keep an eye out for updates.
