Tracy-Ann Oberman, known for her role as Chrissie Watts, hints at a return to EastEnders as the show approaches its 40th anniversary.

London: Good Morning Britain had a special guest on Tuesday. Tracy-Ann Oberman, who plays the unforgettable Chrissie Watts on EastEnders, joined hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.
She was there to chat about her role in The Merchant of Venice 1936, but the conversation quickly shifted to EastEnders, especially with the show’s 40th anniversary coming up next month.
When Susanna asked if Chrissie might make a comeback, Tracy teased, “I’m out of prison, I served longer than most murderers!” She added a fun spoiler about her last scene, where her character rode off in a fancy car.
Tracy joked that she imagines Chrissie is currently in the South of France, opening a pub with her lover, Jake. But when Ed asked if she’d rule out a return, Tracy said, “You never say never!”
It’s worth noting that Tracy made a big return to EastEnders last year after nearly two decades away. Chrissie had left Walford back in 2005 after being imprisoned for her husband’s murder.
During her time away, Chrissie had quite the dramatic storyline, including burying her husband’s body to protect herself and her friends. When she returned, Tracy expressed how much she loved playing Chrissie, saying she’s a fan favorite and the scripts were fantastic.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30 PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. If you’re a soap fan, check out Love TV’s Best of British Soaps for more fun content!
