Bronx: Excavation is kicking off at 355 Exterior Street for a new residential complex. This project will have two towers and a total of 714 rental units.

The design comes from Hill West Architects, and it’s being developed by The Lightstone Group. The whole site will cover about 720,785 square feet, including some commercial space and parking.

One of the towers will stand at 437 feet, making it the tallest in the South Bronx. It’s located right by the Harlem River, near Exterior and Gerard Streets.

You can see heavy machinery on-site, with crews working hard to prepare the land. Some leftover concrete from the previous building is still there, but it’ll be cleared soon.

The developers bought the land from Verizon for $59 million back in 2019. The main rendering shows the towers rising from a shared podium, with a smaller building connecting them.

While we don’t have all the details on the shorter tower yet, it looks like it’ll be around 300 feet tall. The design features lots of windows and landscaped terraces on top.

For those who rely on public transport, the nearest subway stations are the 4 and 5 trains at 138th Street-Grand Concourse.

They expect to finish the project by spring 2026, so there’s a bit of a wait ahead!
