A former probation officer has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges and awaits sentencing in jail.

Everill, who’s 45 and from Water Valley, was hoping to get out on bail while waiting for the judge’s decision. He even filed a motion saying he’s not a flight risk and just wants to fix up his farm for his wife. But the judge wasn’t buying it.
The judge, Daniel P. Jordan, said the conditions in jail aren’t as bad as Everill claimed. He’s in protective custody, not solitary, and has access to a lot of comforts like a TV and even a tablet. He can go outside for an hour and meet with his lawyer whenever he wants.
Everill tried to argue that he should be allowed to check into rehab, but the judge pointed out that if he did that, he wouldn’t be able to help his wife with the farm.
During the hearing, Everill spoke for about 35 minutes but couldn’t discuss the crime itself. He’ll get a chance to address everyone during his sentencing.
He was indicted back in April 2024 after federal agents found out he was chatting online with someone involved in an FBI operation about underage girls. It’s a pretty wild case, and it’s been postponed a couple of times already.
