Jeremy Davies, a Spruce Creek High School teacher, is named Volusia County’s Teacher of the Year, celebrating his passion for math and education.

Port Orange: Jeremy Davies, a teacher at Spruce Creek High School, has been named the 2026 Volusia County Schools’ Teacher of the Year. He teaches a challenging math course that combines various math concepts, preparing students for real-life problem-solving.
Davies has a rich family background in education. His grandfather was a professor in Ecuador and Colombia, and his mother has been a math teacher and is now a principal. Growing up, he was surrounded by education and coaching, which shaped his career path.
He learned about his award during a ceremony at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. Davies is the sixth teacher from Spruce Creek High to receive this honor since the program began in 1971. He will now represent Volusia County in the statewide Teacher of the Year program.
Davies has made significant contributions, including improving the pass rate for his math course. He also coaches the school’s tennis teams and has been recognized for his coaching achievements.
His passion for teaching and tennis started early, with his mother introducing him to both. After high school, he attended the University of Florida and worked at Publix, where he gained valuable management experience before returning to teaching.
Davies is also involved in professional development for fellow teachers and has researched the role of artificial intelligence in education. He’s dedicated to sharing his knowledge and helping others grow in their teaching practices.
He and his wife, Jill, have a daughter, Jordyn, who celebrated his achievement with a big hug. Davies feels that everything has come together perfectly in his career, allowing him to balance work and family life.
