Long Island: A tragic crash left one survivor in a medically induced coma. The driver, Jaden Dsouza, was reportedly high when he lost control of his car.

Anthonie Marte, 23, was in the passenger seat when Dsouza swerved on the Southern State Parkway late Sunday night. They crashed into a tree, flipping the car upside down. Sadly, Dsouza’s sister and a friend in the backseat didn’t survive.

Both Marte and Dsouza were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Marte’s grandmother shared that he suffered a spinal injury and a broken arm. He’s currently in a coma at Nassau University Medical Center.

Ana Marte, his grandmother, recalled how he left home for a night of bowling. He even sent her a photo while having fun. But then she got the devastating call from police about the crash.

She described her grandson as a good person with a kind heart. Dsouza now faces serious charges, including manslaughter. Ana expressed her concern for Dsouza’s mother, feeling compassion for her loss as well. It’s a heartbreaking situation all around.
