The Hannibal Square Heritage Center in Winter Park will reopen for the Unity Festival, celebrating community and culture after a brief closure.

The center has been without a manager since Barbara Chandler was let go last month, which surprised a lot of folks. But Emily Bourmas-Fry, the new executive director of the Crealdé School of Art, is stepping in. She’s committed to keeping the center open and is already looking for a new manager.
During the festival, Fairolyn Livingston and Mary Daniels, who have been around the center for ages, will be giving tours and showcasing the exhibits. The festival runs from Sunday to Monday, coinciding with Martin Luther King Day, and it’s all about raising funds for local youth education.
On Sunday, from 1-5 p.m., there will be gospel music, games for kids, and plenty of food and vendor booths. Monday’s schedule includes an official program with awards and activities for everyone. It’s a great way to bring the community together and celebrate.
Bourmas-Fry is also planning to form a community advisory committee to help guide the center’s future. She’s all about making sure the Heritage Center continues to thrive and serve the community. It’s clear she values the center’s role as a gathering place and resource for everyone.
So, if you’re in the area, make sure to check out the Unity Heritage Festival. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and enjoy some great activities!
