Mount Dora: Saturday was a big day for high school sports, with plenty of action on the courts and fields. Let’s dive into the scores and highlights.
In boys basketball, Seabreeze faced Geneva School and lost 73-44, with Mateo Medina scoring 22 points for the Knights. Faith Christian edged Umatilla 63-60, thanks to Salot Roundtree’s 17 points.
Eustis took down Gateway 64-51, led by Tim Key’s 18 points. Lecanto narrowly beat Altamonte Christian 61-59, while CFCA dominated Deltona Trinity 67-42 with Alexander Dipado scoring 21 points.
Mount Dora Christian also had a solid win against Lake Buena Vista, finishing 71-42, with Tyler McClinton-Hutto leading the way with 24 points.
In girls basketball, Montverde Academy crushed Lincoln Park Academy 78-24, with Saniyah Hall scoring 18 points. Lake Mary and North Florida Educational also had close wins.
Switching gears to soccer, Riverview Academy won 3-2 against Orlando Christian Prep, while Master’s Academy (Vero Beach) dominated Deltona Trinity 6-1.
In wrestling, the Milton Cousins Winter Memorial at St. Cloud High School saw South Dade take the top spot. Local teams like Tohopekaliga and St. Cloud also made strong showings.
