Colorado braces for a freezing weekend with snow and subzero temperatures expected

Colorado: Get ready for a seriously cold weekend! An arctic blast is rolling in, and it’s bringing snow and frigid temperatures. The National Weather Service says Friday marks the start of this chilly weather.
Wednesday and Thursday will be your last chance to enjoy some milder temps before the cold hits. Snow will kick off in the mountains around 11 a.m. Friday, then move to the Front Range and Denver by afternoon.
We’re looking at several inches of light, fluffy snow, especially near the foothills. AccuWeather predicts 4 to 8 inches in Denver and nearby suburbs from Friday into Saturday.
Mountain areas, including places like Estes Park, could see 3 to 6 inches, while the Eastern Plains might get 2 to 4 inches. By Friday night, temps will drop into the single digits.
Saturday is when things get really chilly. It’s Denver’s first shot at subzero temps this season. The snow should wrap up by 11 a.m., but highs will only be in the teens, dropping to around minus 2 overnight.
The Eastern Plains will feel the same chill, with wind making it feel even colder. In the mountains, snow will keep falling, and temps could hit minus 6 overnight.
Northern Colorado towns like Walden and Kremmling might see lows of 13 degrees below zero. Sunday brings more snow to the Front Range and Eastern Plains, but not much accumulation is expected.
Highs on Sunday will be between 10 and 12 degrees, with Denver hitting 11 degrees and overnight lows around minus 5. The Eastern Plains could drop to minus 10, while the mountains will see lows between minus 1 and minus 8.
Monday is set to be the coldest day, with highs struggling to get above zero. Lows could reach minus 10 to minus 20, especially in the I-25 corridor. Wind chill could make it feel like minus 30!
Northern Colorado will be the coldest, with Walden seeing daytime temps around 3 degrees and dropping to 25 below overnight. Denver won’t be as cold, but expect highs near 7 and lows of minus 12.
Things will start to warm up a bit on Tuesday, with highs reaching 33 degrees in Denver and mid-20s in the mountains and Eastern Plains.
