After a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, Jamie Carragher calls for Liverpool to bolster their defense in the January transfer window

In the match, Nottingham Forest scored early with a great goal from Chris Wood, but Liverpool was on the attack for most of the game. Their goalkeeper, Matz Sels, made some incredible saves, which even impressed Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot. He noted how well Forest’s defenders blocked shots and kept Liverpool from scoring more.
Carragher felt Liverpool should have won the match, saying they keep creating chances but have lost their defensive strength. He tweeted that they need to buy a defender to fix this issue.
This isn’t the first time Carragher has criticized Liverpool’s defense. After their previous draw with Manchester United, he mentioned they need to sign a left-back. He pointed out that Trent Alexander-Arnold had a poor game and that Andy Robertson might not be at his best anymore.
Carragher’s concerns are valid. Liverpool has let in 12 goals in their last seven league games, a big change from earlier in the season when they had seven clean sheets. Slot acknowledged that the second half of the season is tougher, as teams know each other better and fight harder for points. He emphasized that every match is a battle, especially for teams trying to avoid relegation.
