Blackburn: Judge Alan Booth has officially retired from his role in the Family Courts. The Blackburn with Darwen Council threw a farewell reception to show their appreciation for his years of service.

Since 2009, Judge Booth has been a High Court Judge in Blackburn, handling many tough cases involving children, including child abuse and adoption. Before that, he spent over 30 years as a barrister in London and Manchester.

Even though he’s stepping down from full-time work, he’ll still be around part-time as a Deputy High Court Judge and a Family Law Arbitrator. At the farewell event, the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Cllr Brian Taylor, presented him with a plaque to honor his contributions.

Cllr Taylor expressed deep respect for Judge Booth, highlighting his dedication to family law over the past 40 years. Asad Laher, the council’s deputy legal director, praised Judge Booth for his consistent and fair approach, making the family court experience easier for many families. He will surely be missed in the local justice system.
