A federal judge has cleared the way for the release of Jack Smith’s report on Trump’s election interference efforts, pending any further legal actions.

However, there’s still a hold on the section about classified documents. The Justice Department isn’t planning to release that right now. They’ve got a motion pending in the 11th Circuit to get the January 6 report out, but we’re still waiting on a ruling for that.
Smith stepped down from his role recently, and Attorney General Merrick Garland has said he’ll share the report on Trump’s 2020 efforts when he can legally do so. The part about classified documents won’t be released yet since two co-defendants are still facing charges.
This report about Trump’s actions leading up to the January 6 Capitol attack is finally coming out, just days before he’s set to take the oath of office again. Trump has been indicted on four federal felony charges related to his election interference, but the case hit some bumps and was dropped after he won the 2024 election. He’s denied any wrongdoing.
Cannon also mentioned she’ll hold a hearing soon to discuss whether the classified documents section can be shared with some members of Congress.
