A Texas father was found not guilty in the death of his son who fell from a window in Brooklyn Center

After a four-day trial, the jury found Duale not guilty of second-degree manslaughter. His attorney, Peter Wold, expressed disbelief that charges were ever brought against him.
The incident happened at the Lux Apartments when police received a call about a child falling from an eighth-floor window. Sadly, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Duale explained that he was watching his kids in the living room when he briefly stepped away.
Witnesses, including Duale’s other children, suggested that the boy was playing with the window screen before the fall. Wold emphasized that child protection services found no fault in the situation, calling it a tragic accident.
While the acquittal brought relief, Wold noted the emotional toll on Duale, who had to endure months of uncertainty and grief. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty maintained that the incident was foreseeable, given the circumstances. Ultimately, the jury’s decision was respected, and the case has drawn significant attention.
