Louisville: A Kentucky man is in hot water for allegedly using bear spray on police during the Capitol riots back in 2021. Andrew Kyle Grigsby, 29, is facing some serious charges, including assaulting officers and disorderly conduct.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Grigsby tried to break through a police line and sprayed what they believe was bear spray at officers. This caused them to back off for a bit. He’s also got a couple of misdemeanor charges for his actions that day.

Grigsby was indicted in August after the charges were filed in November 2023. He’s currently locked up in D.C. while awaiting his next steps in court. His lawyer hasn’t commented yet, so we’ll see how that plays out.

Investigators caught Grigsby on video approaching the police line with a black canister. He raised it and sprayed the officers, which made them retreat temporarily. Later footage showed him still holding the spray and even standing between rioters and police with a shield.

They figured out it was him after someone from Kentucky recognized him in the videos. Grigsby admitted he was there that day and remembered wearing the same clothes but denied spraying any officers intentionally.

He claimed he found the canister on a wall and tried to use it against rioters attacking police. It’s a wild story, and it’s not just him; at least 24 others from Kentucky have been charged in connection with the Capitol riots.

With all the talk about pardons if Trump gets back in office, it’s a complicated situation. The Capitol riot continues to divide opinions, with many wanting to remember it and others ready to move on.
