San Diego: So, Kohl’s is closing 27 stores across the U.S. It’s part of their plan to shake things up a bit. They announced this on January 9, saying these stores just aren’t cutting it anymore.

They’ll be shutting down by April 2025. All the employees were told about it and were given options like severance packages or chances to apply for other jobs within Kohl’s.

Also, the San Bernardino E-commerce Fulfillment Center will close when its lease ends in May 2025. This place has been around since 2010 and is one of 15 centers Kohl’s has across the country.

Kohl’s mentioned that they can now handle orders better with new tech and can fulfill them from other store locations, so they don’t need the San Bernardino center anymore.

Kohl’s CEO, Tom Kingsbury, said they take these decisions seriously. They’re trying to focus on long-term growth, even if it means making tough calls.

They’re not alone in this. Party City is closing all its stores by February 2025, and Macy’s is shutting down 66 stores as part of their reorganization.
