Lao Wang Noodle House, a beloved Denver eatery, will close its doors on February 15 after 25 years of serving delicious dumplings.

Denver: Lao Wang Noodle House, a staple for soup dumpling lovers, is set to close on February 15. For 25 years, it’s been the go-to spot for xiao long bao, those tasty dumplings filled with hot soup.
The restaurant was opened in 1999 by Tse Ming Wang and his wife, Chun Ming Wang. Tse passed away in 2021, but Chun, now 84, has kept the place running. Their son, Danny, has been helping out but feels it’s time for a change.
Soup dumplings have become more popular lately, especially with the rise of chains like Din Tai Fung. But Lao Wang was one of the first places in Denver to serve them, and it’s been loved for its no-frills vibe.
Despite its popularity, the restaurant isn’t known for its hospitality. Many reviews describe the atmosphere as a bit abrupt. But that’s part of its charm, like stepping into a cozy, old-school diner.
As the closing date approaches, Danny expects a busy final stretch. He’s warned customers that they might face long lines and limited seating. But he’s grateful for the support and hopes to keep his parents’ legacy alive in some way.
