New York: Attorney General Letitia James is stepping in to push MSG Networks and Optimum to settle their ongoing dispute. This issue has left fans of the Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, and Devils unable to watch their teams since January 1.

James pointed out that while these big companies are tangled up in contract talks, it’s everyday New Yorkers who are suffering. She wants both sides to come together and reach a fair agreement so fans can get back to enjoying their games.

The tension escalated after MSG Networks accused Optimum of walking away from negotiations. Optimum’s communications VP, Lisa Anselmo, fired back, claiming MSG was spreading misleading information.

In the past, Optimum paid MSG Networks $10 per subscriber, but now things are up in the air. Anselmo mentioned that they had invited MSG to discuss things further but were still waiting for a response.

After James spoke out, MSG Networks thanked her for advocating for Optimum subscribers. They also urged customers to demand refunds for the services they’re not receiving.

MSG Networks highlighted that Altice, Optimum’s parent company, is taking advantage of subscribers by not reimbursing them for the lost programming. They estimate that over 1 million subscribers are paying for content they can’t access, which adds up to more than $120 million a year. It’s a frustrating situation for fans who just want to watch their teams play.
