Washington: So, Michelle Obama won’t be at Donald Trump’s inauguration this time around. Her office confirmed it, and it’s a bit of a surprise since she attended his first one back in 2017.

Remember how emotional she got after that event? She even talked about it on her podcast, saying she cried because it felt like the end of an era for the Obamas. Trump’s speech back then was pretty dark, and it really contrasted with the hopeful messages they had shared during their time in office.

Barack Obama will be there, though, just like he was for the last two inaugurations. Former presidents and their spouses usually get special seating at these events, so he’ll be right up front.

Interestingly, Michelle was just at Jimmy Carter’s funeral, sitting next to Barack. But this time, she’ll be staying home. A statement from their office confirmed that while Barack will attend, Michelle won’t be joining him.

Last week, a source mentioned that Michelle was in Hawaii, where the family often spends the holidays. She’s originally from Chicago, but she’s not a fan of the cold weather there, especially with Washington’s freezing temperatures expected for the inauguration day.
