Employees in the security unit started getting notifications about their layoffs on Tuesday. This unit is led by Charlie Bell, who joined Microsoft from Amazon in 2021 to enhance their cybersecurity efforts.
Last year, Microsoft made security a top priority for all employees, especially after facing significant security issues. The Department of Homeland Security even pointed out a series of failures that allowed hackers to breach customer emails.
Now, security is a key focus during performance reviews. CEO Satya Nadella emphasized that if there’s a choice between security and something else, security should always come first.
