A fire in a Brooklyn apartment building injured 16 people, including a baby, as firefighters battled heavy flames and challenging conditions

Brooklyn: Sixteen people got hurt, including a 5-month-old baby, when a fire broke out early Wednesday in an apartment building. It happened around 6:15 a.m. on Bay 19th Street.
The fire started on the second floor, but an open door let the flames spread to the third floor. Firefighters had a tough time because of the heavy smoke and heat. They had to think on their feet.
Firefighters rescued two young boys, ages 5 months and 5 years, along with a 42-year-old man. They were taken to local hospitals, and thankfully, their conditions improved from critical to stable.
In total, 106 firefighters and 25 medical personnel rushed to the scene. The flames were fierce, making it hard for the team to find the source of the fire at first.
One of the fire chiefs had to come up with a different plan. They decided to attack the fire from outside by using a hose through a window. It was a smart move that helped them get control of the situation.
Six firefighters ended up in the hospital with minor injuries, while seven civilians were treated on-site. The cause of the fire is still being looked into by fire marshals.
