Suspect Charged with Murder in Norwich Stabbing Incident, Police Confirm

Norwich: A tragic incident unfolded on Friday evening when police issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in a homicide case. Jhon Paul Cela-Pichisaca is accused of stabbing Nelson Chumap at his home on Baltic Road. He’s now facing serious charges, including murder and possession of a dangerous weapon, and is being held on a hefty bond of $500,000.

The police were alerted when an unresponsive man, covered in blood, was rushed to Backus Hospital around 11:35 p.m. Hospital staff quickly called the cops, who found that Chumap had been stabbed and later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the stabbing happened at Cela-Pichisaca’s residence, which they secured as a crime scene. Witnesses identified him as being involved in a fight with Chumap before the stabbing. Over the weekend, police gathered evidence, interviewed people, and even reviewed video footage. They concluded that Cela-Pichisaca was responsible for the fatal wound.
