The Senate has postponed the confirmation hearing for Doug Burgum, Trump’s Interior nominee, to allow more time for necessary paperwork to be completed.

Washington: So, here’s the scoop. Utah Senator Mike Lee announced that the confirmation hearing for Doug Burgum, who’s President Trump’s pick for the Interior Department, has been pushed back to Thursday. It was originally set for Tuesday.
Lee, who heads the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said the delay is to give the Office of Government Ethics a little more time to finish their review. He mentioned that Burgum has been super cooperative, getting all his paperwork in on time.
But, Lee isn’t too happy about the hold-up. He called the delay from the ethics office “unacceptable.” He wants to make sure everything is transparent and that the process moves along quickly. The American people deserve a government that works efficiently, right?
Last week, some Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Martin Heinrich, raised concerns about the hearing happening before all the necessary paperwork was in. Heinrich emphasized that the Senate has a duty to carefully consider each nominee and that all standard documents should be submitted first.
He and several other Democrats sent a letter urging Lee to delay the hearing until they received the required financial disclosure and ethics documents. They want to make sure everything is in order before moving forward.
