A woman details her harrowing journey post-weight loss surgery, despite the pain she endured, she believes it was worth it for her transformation.

Littleborough: A woman spent over $10,000 on weight loss surgery and ended up “throwing up lumps of flesh.” But she insists it was worth it for her transformation.
Sofia Alessia, 27, gained weight during her first pregnancy, going from a size 10 to a size 16. After trying to lose the weight through exercise, she decided surgery was her best option.
She avoided cheaper options abroad after hearing horror stories and chose a UK clinic that offered her a discount. Just three weeks later, she underwent gastric sleeve surgery.
However, after waking up from the anesthesia, she felt extremely sick. In the days that followed, she couldn’t keep anything down and was soon back in the hospital.
After just 24 hours at home, she had to call for an ambulance and was taken to Blackburn Hospital, where she was treated for pneumonia and blood clots for three weeks.
Later, she returned to the clinic for a gastric bypass, as they admitted to removing too much of her stomach initially. Unfortunately, this didn’t solve her issues, and she developed sepsis.
She ended up at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, where doctors worked to salvage what was left of her stomach. They managed to remove staples that had caused a severe infection.
Now, Sofia has lost a total of seven stone and weighs nine stone. She’s recovering at home with her daughter, Alya-Valentina, who is four.
Sofia shared her experience, saying she was warned against going to Turkey for surgery, but staying in the UK nearly cost her life. She described her ordeal as a nightmare, wishing she hadn’t gone through such pain.
Before becoming a mom, she maintained a size 10 but struggled with binge eating after her daughter was born. She felt lost and needed help.
Despite the challenges, she’s grateful for her transformation but warns others about the risks of weight loss surgery. She’s still healing and has multiple scars, along with an internal hernia that needs further surgery.
